From 23th September to 4 October 2013, the first Summer School of the ITaRS network took place in Bucharest, Romania. 11 PhDs and 2 Post-docs of the current ITaRS community met with other master and PhD students in INOE in Magurele, 8km South from Bucharest. 2 of our members (Lukas Pfitzenmaier and Edouard Martins) took part to this Summer School.
Participants had the possibility to interact with experts in aerosol remote sensing techniques (lecturers were researchers and industrial partners) and spent some time doing hands-on training with a depolarisation lidar and had access to observations to other instruments in order to study multi-instrumental synergies (sun photometer, mass spectrometers, microwave radiometers, etc).
Lukas presented his PhD topic and preliminary results. Edouard just started and showed a poster done during his last job and introduced the main tasks of his current position. This summer school was a first way to all ITaRS fellows to start and settle collaborations between them and also with all other ITaRS partners (institutes, companies) by the way of planned secondments.
